In order to service 5.4L and 6.8L engine thermostat, drain the cooling system, take out the air cleaner outflow pipe and the upper radiator hose. Unscrew the thermostat housing bolts, unscrew the thermostat, wipe the surfaces, screw in a new O-ring and reverse the steps to finish the installation.
