    A: Start by placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear and hoisting it before beginning service of the exhaust Y-pipe since nearby components especially the Catalytic Converter require full cooling before work commences. It is essential to utilize new fasteners with the same part number as original components because exhaust fasteners use a torque prevailing design which requires strict adherence to torque values for component retention. The procedure begins by discarding four nuts that connect the catalytic converter to the Y-pipe followed by parallel alignment of exhaust flanges before turning the new nuts by equal amounts to a torque of 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Begin by removing two nuts that link Y-pipe to underbody catalytic converter and secure them with new nuts to the same torque value. Replace the damaged Y-pipe to underbody catalytic converter gasket with a new gasket after removing it from its current position. The clinician must inspect the isolator followed by a replacement if needed before proceeding to disconnect the Y-pipe isolator while extracting the Y-pipe. First remove the Y-pipe isolator bracket bolts before taking out the bracket and reinstall the bracket while tightening its bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Follow the disassembly steps in reverse to install the exhaust system connections while using new gaskets and properly torquing new exhaust fasteners as part of the installation process.
