How to service the lower intake manifold on Ford Flex?

The first step when servicing the lower intake manifold requires clean operations to avoid foreign material that leads to engine failure. The service process starts with removing the fuel rail and draining the cooling system fluid. Start service of the lower intake manifold by removing the three bolts securing the thermostat housing before removing all ten bolts holding the lower intake manifold steady. Discard the intake manifold and thermostat housing gaskets before cleaning the entire sealing surface area properly. You must inspect the intake manifold for metallic debris if upper engine failure required engine replacement or repairs. The presence of such debris means installing a new intake manifold to defend against potential engine harm. Apply new gaskets to the lower intake manifold then fasten it with ten bolts while tightening each one to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) as per the required sequence. Reinstall the three bolts securing the thermostat housing to lower intake manifold and tighten each of them to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). To conclude the procedure install the fuel rail before you fill then bleed the cooling system.
