How to service the knock sensor (KS) on Ford Focus?

The first step when servicing the knock sensor (KS) is to disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the intake manifold as the first step before taking out the bolt that secures the KS. Follow the removal procedure in reverse to install the new Knock Sensor by tightening it to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
