How to Service and Repair the A/C Accumulator on Ford Fusion?

The A/C accumulator requires servicing by first recovering the coolant and then positioning the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL position. First, disconnect the lower radiator air deflector before unscrewing the A/C accumulator cap made from plastic. You should first open a refrigerant system fitting to relieve vacuum before another attempt to remove the plug from the A/C accumulator. The snap ring can be extracted after pushing the A/C accumulator plug in an upward direction. You should install the bolt from the A/C desiccant cartridge service kit at the center of the A/C accumulator plug to help pull out the plug. A suitable tool should be used to remove the A/C desiccant cartridge by properly handling the grab handle. The installation process requires following the extraction steps in reverse order while using residual refrigerant oil from inside the A/C accumulator to lubricate plug O-ring seals and applying the correct PAG oil amount to the system. Completion of the refrigerant system requires evacuation steps followed by leak checks and charge procedures.
