How to service the lower intake manifold on Ford Fusion?

It is essential to service the lower intake manifold while avoiding areas where smoking or open flames can exist because flammable fuel mixtures are active there. Clear fuel system pressure from the system before disconnecting the battery ground cable. Disassembling the service requires you to eliminate the upper intake manifold followed by removal of the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling from the fuel rail. The two wiring harness retainers must be detached from the left-hand valve cover stud bolts while you should remove the three pin-type retainers fixed to the fuel rail. The six electrical fuel injector connectors require removal before the eight lower intake manifold bolts can be used to remove the lower intake manifold along with its discarded gaskets. Install the lower intake manifold by first cleaning and inspecting sealing surfaces before placing new gaskets and securing it with eight bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) using the specified sequence. First connect all six fuel injector electrical connectors then install three pin-type retainers to the fuel rail while reusing the two wiring harness retainers to secure on the left-hand valve cover stud bolts. After connecting the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling to the fuel rail, users must install the upper intake manifold while reconnecting the battery ground cable.
