Examine lubricant located on the driveshaft splines together with inside the slip-yoke for signs of contamination then check components for wear before replacing them if needed. When assembling the driveshaft fit only a new small driveshaft slip-yoke boot clamp onto the stub shaft before placing the smaller end of the slip-yoke boot on the stub shaft. The Keystone Clamp Installer helps in crimping the boot clamp while you install the slip-yoke onto the driveshaft. Fit 10 g (0.24 oz) of grease into the slip-yoke boot and apply it to the splines while pulling the boot toward the driveshaft. Use new position large slip-yoke boot clamp while matching index marks and place slip-yoke into position. The driveshaft assembled length specification must be set through stub shaft weld measurement to slip-yoke end point along with boot groove placement verification. All surfaces should be free from extra grease. To finish the operation bleed air from the boot then use the Keystone Clamp Installer to secure the large boot clamp.
