When having to service the front crankshaft seal, make the vehicle neutral on a hoist. Take out the crankshaft pulley and loosen the old seal. Clean the surfaces, smear the seal bore with engine oil, and with installers install a new seal and then reinstall the crankshaft pulley.

How to Service the Rear Crankshaft Seal on Ford Taurus?

To service crankshaft rear seal, make sure that the vehicle is on neutral on a hoist. Take out flexplate and crankshaft sensor ring. Dispose of the old seal with a crankshaft rear oil seal remover, clean the surface, lubricate the new seal and install it with the rear main seal installer. Connection of sensor ring and flexplate.
