How to service the Mass Air Flow Sensor on Ford Taurus?

A service operation of the Air Flow Meter begins with removing the battery's ground connection. The service of the Air Flow Meter/Sensor begins by disconnecting the electrical connector then removing the four nuts for the sensor followed by the air cleaner outlet tube removal. The Mass Air Flow (MAF) functions as a calibrated unit so its hot wire element and housing must be handled as a single serviceable assembly. Any attempt to clean the hot wire should never occur individually because installation separately will modify the airflow calibration. The installation process should follow the steps of removing the MAF sensor.
