How to service and repair the tailgate latch on Lincoln Mark LT?

To service the tailgate latch, open the tailgate and remove 8 screws from the access panel, tightening to 5 Nm upon reinstallation. Detach the latch actuating rod and remove the latch bolt and cable, tightening to 25 Nm during reinstallation. Lubricate the latch after reinstalling.
