How to service the heater core on Mercury Mariner?

The first step for servicing the heater core requires the drain of engine coolant followed by clamp release to free two heater hoses from the heater core. The heater core service starts by removing the instrument panel followed by removing the screw and the temperature blend door lever. The procedure requires removal of the heater core from the housing by first unscrewing three screws fixing the cover. Place the temperature blend door lever along with its actuator and switch into proper alignment during reinstallation. The coolant hoses need plain water for lubrication only when required. The installation completion requires proceeding through the removal steps backward and performing proper filling and bleeding of the engine cooling system. A heater core leak test should happen before removing the unit.
