Mercury Milan Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the rear brake disc on Mercury Milan?
A: Start by putting the vehicle into NEUTRAL mode while it rests on a hoist. Dismantle the Brake Caliper brake cable by first extending the parking brake lever and then pulling the cable from its connection to the lever and taking off the cable connector. Avoid damage by not allowing the brake caliper to drop from the brake hose before you remove the two bolts from the brake caliper anchor plate so you can set the brake caliper assembly including pads and anchor plate supported by mechanic's wire. You should proceed by taking out the two brake disc screws along with the brake disc itself. Before mounting a new brake disc check that the brake disc-to-hub mounting surface lacks corrosion and debris then apply anti-seize lubricant. Use the two brake disc screws to fasten the new brake disc while securing them at 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Fitting the brake caliper hose should be untwisted before installing the brake caliper along with Brake Pads and brake caliper anchor plate assembly while tightening the two anchor plate bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft.lb). The brake caliper receives the Parking Brake Cable connection before a parking brake lever pullback enables the cable connection to the same lever while installing the cable conduit retaining clip. To verify proper operation check the parking brake several times and thoroughly test the brake function after completion.
