How to service and repair the oil filter on Mercury Milan?

All service and repair procedures on the oil filter must start with positioning the vehicle into NEUTRAL on a hoist. Begin the procedure by removing the possible screws which secure the oil filter access cover. You must start by using a cup-style oil filter wrench to take a single turn from the oil filter cover while you drain the plug from the oil filter. Drain and dispose of the engine oil through the oil filter drain plug and adapter until both contain no fluid. Keep the discarded oil filter drain plug O-ring seal. Move forward with the procedure by first taking away the oil filter cover alongside the oil filter element before throwing each item out with its accompanying O-ring seal from the oil filter cover. First clean the oil filter cover while also preparing a new oil filter cover O-ring seal for installation by lubricating it with clean engine oil. After cleaning the oil filter adapter mounting surface remove it from service. The tightness of the oil filter cover should be limited to prevent damaging its parts or causing an oil leak. Install the new oil filter element together with the oil filter cover by tightening it to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) using a cup-style oil wrench. Apply clean engine oil to the new oil filter drain plug O-ring seal before installation. Avoid excessive force on tightening the drain plug to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the two screws to secure the oil filter access cover when evolution implements this component.
