Exhaust Manifold

The service of right-hand exhaust manifold begins after placing the vehicle in neutral gear with a stable hoist position. The starting system and right-hand inner fenderwell must be removed first. You should remove the two exhaust manifold-catalytic converter nuts before installing new ones with 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque settings. The sway bar requires new bolts when you remove its four bolts for lowering it before you finish the reinstallation step by tightening new bolts to a torque of 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). The installation process requires new exhaust manifold nuts which should replace the discarded eight nuts during assembly while tightening new nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) using this sequence. The vehicle needs new eight exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head studs which should be tightened to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) after installation. Disassemble and discard the right-hand exhaust manifold gaskets together with the parts. It is essential to use plastic scrapers instead of metal scrapers or abrasive tools when cleaning sealing surfaces because the proper cleaning occurs with metal surface prep following package instructions. Test the flatness of the exhaust manifold following the removal procedure when it comes time to install the part again.

Remove the four bolts and lower the sway bar, then tighten them to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation.

The clockspring must be removed and recentered.
