The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) replacement process does not demand new keys nor key programming because of its procedure. The procedure for Programmable Module Installation brings the needed module configuration during this initial stage. Three PCM electrical connections need to be disconnected before using tools to remove the two PCM nuts while carefully extracting the PCM along with its gasket from the vehicle. The process begins with gasket and PCM positioning then proceed to install the two PCM nuts while torqueing them to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Secure the PCM by replugging the three electrical connectors. The restoration includes completing the steps in the Programmable Module Installation procedure while executing the Parameter Reset procedure to reprogram the passive anti-theft system (PATS).
