The spark plug maintenance process begins with disconnecting the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling from the valve cover fitting on the LH side then moving it to the side. The spark plugs need the upper intake manifold removal to reach them from the RH side. First disconnect the six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors that exist on the system. Apply a twisting motion when removing ignition coil-on-plugs so you can break the seals and simplify the removal process. Use hand tools only to remove the six bolts while also removing the six ignition coil-on-plugs by breaking the seals before setting them aside. Use compressed air to blow out foreign objects from the spark plug well before starting to detach the six spark plugs. Check the six removed spark plugs before changing the gap if required. Fasten the six spark plugs at a torque of 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Before attaching the boots to the spark plugs, apply a minute amount of dielectric grease, and install the six ignition coil-on-plug units together with six bolts which need to be tightened to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Position the upper intake manifold on the RH side after reconnection of the six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors and complete the operation by connecting the crankspace vent tube quick connect coupling to its corresponding fitting on the LH side of the valve cover.

Begin the spark plug service by disconnecting the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling which is mounted on the left-hand valve cover then place it beside you. You must remove the upper intake manifold to obtain access to the spark plugs on the right-hand side. Disconnect the six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors as the next step in the process. You should twist gently on ignition coil-on-plugs until the seal separates before their extraction becomes simpler. Surround the ignition coil-on-plugs with the six bolts before their extraction. The correct procedure for removing or installing spark plugs requires hand tools only because they help avoid any damage to the cylinder head structure together with the spark plugs themselves. As a first step clear the plug well of foreign material by using compressed air. Study the spark plugs and apply proper adjustments to their gap specifications. Tighten each of the six spark plugs to 15 Nm (133 lb-in) torque values. A tiny portion of dielectric grease should be applied inside ignition coil-on-plug boots before their attachment to spark plugs through installation of six ignition coil-on-plugs while using six bolts tightened to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). The six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors must be connected afterward the upper intake manifold needs to be reinstalled on the right-hand side and a final step requires the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling to attach to the valve cover fitting on the left-hand side.

To complete the procedure you must install the upper intake manifold on the right hand side while connecting the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling to its fitting on the left hand side.

The first step on the left-hand side requires you to disconnect the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling from the valve cover fitting and place it safely aside. Add a tiny amount of dielectric grease inside each ignition coil-on-plug boot before connecting it to the spark plugs. After that, install the six ignition coil-on-plugs along with their corresponding six bolts by tightening them to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). The six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors need to be attached followed by installing the upper intake manifold and re-establishing the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling to the valve cover fitting. All tasks end by reconnecting the battery ground cable.
