2000 Ford Ranger Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair a radiator on 2000 Ford Ranger?
A: Service and repair of the radiator starts with draining the cooling system followed by removing the rubber radiator overflow hose. Remove the two screws before lifting the fan shroud out of lower retaining clips to drape it across the fan blade. Detach both upper and lower radiator hoses before taking out the two transmission cooling lines that may be present. The radiator requires unscrewing followed by a back tilt position to allow a direct upward lift. After setting the radiator in the engine compartment one should fasten it securely with bolts. The radiator oil cooler fittings require connection of both transmission cooling lines while you reinstall constant tension clamps to their proper spots. First secure the upper radiator hose to the unit while installing the lower hose and correctly installing the constant tension clamp. The radiator fan shroud and rubber overflow hose must be reinstalled back onto their respective positions. You should fill the cooling system then operate the engine briefly but check for leaks in all hoses and connections by standing clear of the engine cooling fan blade during engine revving.
