How to service and repair the parking brake cable on 2001 Lincoln LS?

The service process for parking brake cables starts by taking out the console and raising the tab slide handle. Stuff a screwdriver below the tension arm to fully flatten it before lowering the tension arm while releasing the screwdriver from the arm. The second step will involve removing the anchor pin from the cable. A 13 mm box-end wrench can be used to depress the conduit retaining prongs thus breaking the parking brake cable connection and conduit from the control. First raise the vehicle after support then disconnect the cables of the rear parking brake while removing the equalizer. The floor grommet holding the front cable must be snapped off while removing both cable parts. Mechanics wire should be tied to both the old cable and conduit to simplify installation of the new cable. The conduit retaining prongs require a 13 mm box-end wrench to become depressed so you can remove the parking brake cable and conduit from the control. The installation process requires following the opposite steps of removal.
