2001 Mercury Cougar Cruise Control Servo Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Address Issues with the Cruise Control Servo on a 2001 Mercury Cougar?
A: Start the servicing and repairing process of the cruise control servo by removing the speed control cable from the engine cover along with the intake air resonator. Detach the speed control cable from the throttle body cam before removing the throttle bracket by unhooking the cable and pushing the retaining clip for cable extraction. First disconnect the speed control actuator electrical connector then detach the actuator by removing its bolt. You should remove the speed control cable cap from the speed control actuator by both depressing the locking clip and turning the cap counterclockwise. The speed control cable must be detached from the speed control actuator pulley by releasing the locking spring to push the cable end out of its respective slot. To install the actuator use the reverse steps of removal.
