The tailgate support cables must be disconnected from pickup bed strikers and the tailgate latch needs removal after unscrewing its bolts while removing the latch release link. You should start with release link tailgate slack reduction by pulling it toward the center of the gate before closing the retainer over the link thread. The reverse procedures must be followed for installation completion.
