You should disconnect the tailgate latch release link from the tailgate latch remote control through a process of opening the tailgate latch rod retainer then separating the link. On a second step detach the tailgate support cables from pickup bed strikers while removing the tailgate latch by unfastening its mounting bolts. The installation process starts by following the uninstallation steps while pulling the link to center position before securing the latch rod retainer onto the release link threads.
