2005 Ford Excursion A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Suction A/C Accumulator on 2005 Ford Excursion?
A: Service of the suction accumulator starts with refrigerant recovery followed by disconnecting the A/C cycling switch connector. The back up wrench helps protect tubes as well as fittings from damage when the fitting nut is turned for connection or disconnection. After dismissing the O-ring seal from the evaporator core outlet tube you can safely detach it. The service includes disconnecting the auxiliary fitting then removing its O-ring before disconnecting the manifold and tube assembly which requires the second O-ring seal removal. The technician will first detach the evaporator inlet from its clip before removing both suction accumulator screws to separate the suction accumulator from the system. Turn around the removal steps during installation replacing all O-ring seals and performing the proper lubrication of the refrigerant system with clean mineral oil. The last step involves evacuation, leak testing and refrigerant charging of the system.
