- Q: How to service and repair the front parking brake cable on 2006 Ford Crown Victoria?A: A technician must start front parking brake cable service by operating the parking brake control release handle. The air suspension switch found in the luggage compartment should be switched off to stop the air springs from automatic deflation or inflation during hoisting and jacking or towing operations. The vehicle needs fire suppression system disconnection for safety. Place the vehicle in the neutral gear on the hoist. Fully press the parking brake control after you pull down on the parking brake adjuster clip. Lock the adjuster by pushing up on the parking brake adjuster clip before letting go of the parking brake control. Extract the cable connector between the front parking brake rear conduit and LH parking brake rear cable before extracting the front cable retainer bracket by releasing its attaching tabs. Use a new bolt of 9Nm (80 inch lbs.) to secure the parking brake cable bracket before refit and reconnecting it. The front parking brake cable and conduit must be detached from the parking brake control before pushing down to extract both components. The installation process for this system requires completing the reverse order of removal and adjusting the parking brake cable tension. After installing new components it is important to repower the vehicle when a fire suppression system exists.
