2006 Ford Mustang Thermostat Housing Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the thermostat housing on a 4.0L SOHC engine on 2006 Ford Mustang?
A: The service process for a 4.0L SOHC engine thermostat housing begins with draining the cooling system fluid. The first step should be to remove the air cleaner outlet pipe together with the throttle body. Start the process by disconnecting the engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector before removing the upper radiator hose and heater inlet hose and bypass hose from the thermostat housing which needs to be set aside. Service the 4.0L SOHC engine thermostat housing by removing its three lower bolts and then taking out the housing while tightening the replacement unit to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) when installing it. Put an end to the removal process by refilling and bled the cooling system.
