The transmission shift cable assembly connecting the steering column transmission shift lever arm to the steering column bracket should never be subjected to physical force to prevent any damage formation. The transmission shift cable needs to be detached from the steering column while you also detach it from the transmission shift lever arm which you will support. You can detach the transmission shift cable from the steering column bracket after gently lifting the two locking tabs. Now separate the cable retaining screw and guide both the rubber grommet and transmission shift cable through the floor panel housing.
