2006 Lincoln Zephyr Spark Plug Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the spark plugs on 2006 Lincoln Zephyr?
A: You should start spark plug servicing and repair by disconnecting the battery ground cable. Examine the spark plugs by first removing the upper intake manifold when working on the right-hand side of the engine. The service requires detachment of six ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors. A gentle twisting motion should help you remove ignition coil-on-plugs since it will help break their seals. After removing six bolts and six ignition coil-on-plugs you should clear the spark plug well using compressed air to prepare for six spark plug removal. Examine the spark plugs and modify their gaps correctly then install them by tightening to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Apply a small amount of dielectric grease inside each boot of the ignition coil-on-plug before connecting it to the spark plug. Install the six ignition coil-on-plugs and their six associated bolts while tightening them to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Reinstall the upper intake manifold for the right-hand side lastly followed by reattachment of the battery ground cable.
