2007 Ford Expedition Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the rear wheel bearing and wheel hub on 2007 Ford Expedition?
A: Start servicing the rear wheel bearing and wheel hub by hoisting the vehicle with NEUTRAL transmission position. Prior to halfshaft nut replacement your assistant must depress the brake pedal to stop axle movement followed by a new nut installation with torque to 300 Nm (221 lb-ft). A proper hub puller can split the outboard CV joint away from the wheel hub assembly. Support the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly by mechanic's wire after you remove its bolts to prevent brake hose damage and reinstall these bolts at 190 Nm (140 lb-ft). Separate the brake disc by performing its removal before detaching the wheel speed sensor harness from its retainers to disconnect the electrical connector while pushing the harness grommet through the brake disc shield. The wheel bearing assembly with both bearing and sensor can be removed by disconnecting four bolts, while routing the sensor cables through the brake disc shield opening before discarding the bolts. Reinstall by securing wheel bearing and wheel hub bolts reaching a torque of 185 Nm (136 lb-ft). You can withhold the wheel speed sensor bolt and sensor from the assembly but you must tighten their bolt to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft) when reinstalling. To finish the installation follow the opposite steps of the removal process.
