2007 Ford Freestyle A/C Hose Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the A/C Hose for the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet lines on 2007 Ford Freestyle?
A: The service of auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet lines begins when the refrigerant recovery process completes and you establish the muffler and tailpipe assembly with a jackstand. First disconnect the resonator isolator then examine it for replacement when necessary. Proceed to detach the underbody catalytic converter with precision while avoiding any strikes and dispose of the gasket. The service procedure includes another disconnection sequence for muffler front and rear isolators before final removal of the muffler combined with resonator and underbody catalytic converter assembly. When working with all-wheel drive vehicles you must take off the rear driveshaft. Removal starts by removing the exhaust heat shield before handling the auxiliary evaporator inlet line fitting nut to dispose of the O-ring seal while tightening the new fitting to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Attend to the same installation procedure for the auxiliary evaporator outlet line. You should take off the LH rear wheel and quarter panel moulding then detach the associated bracket bolts. During reinstallation of the LH rear brake caliper tighten its bolts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft). When reinstalling the parking brake cable bolts use 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque. In AWD vehicles you must firstly remove subframe bracket bolts alongside trailing arm-to-knuckle bolts before installation at their tightened torque of 110 Nm (81 lb-ft). First loosen the trailing arm-to-subframe bolt while removing the LH lower shock bolt but tighten it to 142 Nm for AWD equipment or 110 Nm for front-wheel drive products. A lifting table should support the rear subframe while you mark its alignment with the underbody. Front-wheels-drive vehicles need disconnecting of rear wheel speed sensor electronic connectors before loosening the RH rear subframe bolts. After supporting the fuel tank properly, uninstall the LH rear fuel tank strap bolt and re-tighten it to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) during reinstallation. The rear auxiliary inlet and outlet line fittings require removal while discarding the O-ring seals then tightening new fittings to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Reinstall the middle rear and front auxiliary line brackets after tightening all their bolts and nuts to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Before making any cuts mark the removal area on the line and cut the auxiliary evaporator line(s) at the spot where the middle fitting will get installed on the new lines. Cut off the front and rear parts of auxiliary evaporator lines so you can lower the LH side rear subframe and fuel tank to obtain sufficient clearance space. Termination of the installation follows initial removal steps then demands the use of new O-ring seals followed by refrigerant system lubrication using PAG oil and final evacuation and leakage testing before charging the system.
