2007 Lincoln Navigator Transmission Pan Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Transmission Pan, Gasket, and Filter on 2007 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Start the repair of fluid pan gasket and filter by using a hoist to position the vehicle in neutral gear. Extract the vacuum from the front transmission case by removing the fluid fill plug fluid level indicator assembly that exists on the passenger side of the unit so the fluid pan can be easily extracted. The service begins with draining transmission fluid from the pan followed by disposal of the fluid pan gasket and transmission fluid filter. Check and cleanse the transmission fluid pan and inspect its magnet. The transmission fluid filter and seal assembly needs replacement during repairs for contamination failure yet an existing filter can stay if no major contamination exists. Check the transmission case for the presence of the fluid filter seal before carefully removing it while maintaining case integrity. The new transmission fluid filter requires automatic transmission fluid lubrication before its installation. Place the magnet inside the fluid pan and the same gasket can be used when it remains intact otherwise install a fresh gasket. Tighten the fluid pan bolts through cross-shaped pattern to achieve a torque of 14 Nm (10 lb-ft). Follow the refill process to implement fluid in the transmission before performing the fluid check.
