The maintenance begins with unscrewing the component that anchors the console upper trim. Start at the bottom front of the right-hand (Rh) shift knob cover before moving up to the top front for discarding. A similar procedure must be completed for removing the left-hand shift knob cover. Check for the Lh and Rh knob body towers along with their condition before discarding the Lh shift knob screw. First disconnect the electrical connection of the transmission control (Tc) switch then remove the shift knob. Begin installation by linking the Tc switch electrical connector followed by attaching the shift knob and then inserting new Lh shift knob screw and new Rh shift knob screw.
