How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose from Steering Gear to Fluid Cooler Return on 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

The first step for power steering line service and repair of the steering gear to fluid cooler return hose involves removing the air cleaner intake pipe from vehicles using 5.4L and 6.8L engines. A proper vacuum device should be used to drain power steering fluid from the reservoir for all vehicles. Start the procedure by removing the fender splash shield followed by disconnection of the ABS module electrical connector which should be positioned aside when working on 6.4L vehicles. The line fitting requires its shield disconnected before moving the shield upward along the lower steering column shaft. The return hose-to-steaming gear fitting requires tightness of 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) before putting it back in place. Steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose unclipping is necessary from its two retainers while vehicles with 6.4L engines will also need their return hose retainer detached from the fuel air charge cooler bracket. If needed remove both the fog lamp and bracket assembly of the left side. The clamp needs release on the steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose before removing the hose. Reinstall all components by using the reverse uninstalling method. Next fill the power steering system.
