2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace the Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Start by engaging the parking brake followed by removing the steering column shrouds as the first step to replace or remove the Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA). To start the procedure put the ignition into accessory position while engaging either the brake pedal or activating the BSIA override. You should place the selector lever into neutral while disconnecting the BSIA electrical connector and unscrewing the BSIA. The surgeon should lift the clip enough to slide out the BSIA. Activation of the BSIA override while positioning the slider completely to the rear needs to occur prior to installation. To shift the selector lever from neutral to park position, first position the selector lever tab directly onto the BSIA. Transfer and fasten the BSIA and release the clip once the installer completes the opposite steps they used during removal.
