Service and repair of the tailgate latch starts with removing the 8 screws holding the tailgate access cover and tightening these screws to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) when installing it back. The next action should be to dismantle the tailgate latch actuating rod retainer while removing the rods from the remote control of the tailgate latch. The service and repair of the tailgate latch starts by disconnecting the pickup bed strikers from the support cables before removing two tailgate latch bolts which need to be tightened to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) following installation. To begin remove the tailgate latch then disconnect the tailgate latch actuating rod and take out the tailgate latch. Before mounting the release link should be stretched to the field position of the tailgate then wrapped under the rod retainer. Finish up the installation by performing the reverse actions which were used for removal.
