- Q: How to Service the Throttle Position Sensor on 2008 Ford Ranger?A: The servicing of the throttle position (TP) sensor starts with removing the electrical connector. Carefully remove the TP sensor screws by starting with 1 or 2 turns of hand tool loosening followed by using a suitable high-speed driver to finish the extraction. The service requires discarding both bolts and the TP sensor. When installing the new TP sensor keep its tightness at 3 Nm (27 lb-in). A high-speed driver should not be used during new screw installation to protect the TP sensor from harm. The installation can only proceed with fresh TP sensor parts because using existing components remains forbidden. Correct installation requires proper placement of the throttle shaft blade under the rotary tangs before rotating the TP sensor to its proper position. The reinstallation process requires proper placement of the new TP sensor along with its screws following the opposite setup steps.
