How to remove and replace the parking brake cable on 2008 Ford Taurus?

Before beginning repairs on the parking brake cable users must first reduce its tension level. Remove first the three bolts securing the parking brake cable bracket on the subframe while tightening these bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) for installation. Detach the intermediate cable from the front cable through the cable-to-cable union before freeing up the intermediate cable from its body bracket. After that, activate the intermediate cable from the rear RH cable at the cable-to-cable union followed by detaching the LH rear cable from the intermediate cable at the conduit equalizer. The installation ends with this step followed by an inspection of the parking brake system to check its proper operation.
