How to Repower the Air Bag System and Verify Its Functionality on 2009 Ford F-150?

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) repowering process requires you to move the ignition key from OFF to ON position. Then you should install RCM fuse 31 (10A) into the SJB before sealing its cover. Connection of the battery ground cable must be done with care because failing to ensure the absence of people and obstructions in front of air bag modules could lead to life-threatening injuries through accidental air bag deployment. You need to check the air bag warning indicator by turning off the ignition followed by a 10-second wait until you turn it back on while observing the indicator through the installation of air bag modules. The light indicator remains on continuously for about six seconds followed by lamp shutdown. Faults in the SRS will make the indicator either fail to light up or stay permanently on or flash at 5 Hz frequency pointing to the RCM unconfigured status. It takes approximately 30 seconds after ignition ON until the air bag warning indicator turns on because the RCM conducts its complete SRS testing. The air bag warning indicator needs two types of repair if it becomes unresponsive when a faulty condition exists. After playing a five-note sequence twice more the chimes will signal that inspections must begin on both indicator systems and all SRS component faults. Use a scan tool to remove every constant DTC present in both the RCM and Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM).
