- Q: How to Safely Depower and Repower the Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) on Ford F-150?A:Safety glasses must be worn at all times when dealing with air bag modules because the SRS depowering procedure helps reduce accidental deployment risks during operation. Probing the connectors on the air bag module creates a high risk of personal injury together with air bag deployment. Before performing any seat service which includes a side air bag and safety belt pretensioner, verify that the SRS is properly depowered. The air bag warning lamp will turn on when the RCM fuse F22 (10A) is taken out while the ignition is in ON position but this is only a normal condition that does not represent a fault. The first step should be to disconnect both vehicle power and accessories and the ignition. Remove the cover from the central junction box (CJB) placed below the left side of the instrument panel before taking out the RCM fuse F22.
