- Q: How to service and repair the radiator on 2009 Ford Fusion?A: You must drain the cooling system at the start of radiator repair and service operations. Start by taking out the cooling fan motor together with its shroud followed by detaching the power steering hose retainer from the radiator. Dispense the upper radiator hose and free the retainer from the radiator before disconnecting the radiator-to-degas bottle hose. You should disconnect the two transmission cooling tubes from the radiator of automatic transmission vehicles followed by tightening them to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) when reattaching them. Start the radiator lower hose detachment from the radiator then raise and remove upper radiator support tabs to position the radiator in front of the engine. The removal process starts with the A/C condenser-to-radiator pin-type retainer which should be separated and the tabs should be squeezed to detach the A/C condenser from the radiator before taking out the radiator. The new radiator installation requires following the reverse steps of removal with cooling system filling and bleeding.
