When bleeding the brake system after installing a new Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) or opening the HCU lines the process should start by cleaning all dirt from the
Brake Master Cylinder filler cap followed by filling the brake master cylinder reservoir with the specified brake fluid. A clear waste line needs installation on the RH rear bleeder screw with one end submerged in the recommended brake fluid solution contained inside a container. A technician should start the bleeder screw process by opening the RH rear until brake fluid streams from the valve while a helper applies pressure to the brake pedal before tightening the valve. Use the same procedure again until the fluid remains bubble-free while emptying the brake master cylinder reservoir when needed. To finish the bleeding process, first detach the waste line then follow the sequence of LH rear, RH front, and LH front bleeder screw procedures while flushing out the brake fluid through partially filled recommended brake fluid containers. You should connect the scan tool DCL cable adapter to the under-dash Data Link Connector (DLC) before following the scan tool instructions. The system bleed process should be performed according to earlier instructions.
