How to service and repair the instrument panel dimmer switch on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

In order to replace the instrument panel dimmer switch, disconnect the battery, un screw the screws, and the center panel, and lay aside the hood latch handle. Pull the steering column covers off, insert the transmission range lever and unplug the electrical connectors. Lastly take the dimmer switch screws off and repeat the procedure to place the new switch.
