Ford F-250 Super Duty Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What safety precautions should be observed when servicing fuel injectors on Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Safety should be a priority when working with fuel injectors since the devices contain highly flammable solutions so always keep away from smoking or fire and minimize fuel pressure before detaching any fuel system parts to avoid unwanted spraying and possible harm. The first steps include disconnection of the battery ground cable then removal of the air cleaner outlet pipe before separating the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling. The maintenance process continues with detachment of the electrical connectors from the Throttle Body then removal of the positive crankcase ventilation tube from the throttle body spacer followed by detachment of the two vacuum lines from the throttle body spacer. Begin by disconnecting the Fuel Rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical and vacuum connectors before the ten fuel injector electrical connectors. Position the harness by first detaching the main engine wiring harness retainer from the right-hand valve cover then the two retainers from the Intake Manifold before working on the fuel rail. The removal process of the fuel rail should be performed with retained fuel injectors mounted in the intake manifold and requires six fuel rail bolt removal followed by fuel rail extraction when reinstallation demands 10 Nm (89 lb-in) torque bolt tightness. Install new O-ring seals from specific fuel-resistant materials since standard O-rings might cause leaks and avoid reusing O-rings and apply engine oil onto fresh installation O-rings for lubrication. Reverse the same work to finish the fuel system installation.
