Ford F-350 Super Duty Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair a Non-Functional Ignition Lock Cylinder on Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: The servicing of a non-functional ignition lock cylinder begins by taking off the Steering Wheel. Proceed with removing the ignition lock cylinder by first twisting off its cap. To break loose the ignition lock cylinder you must start by drilling a 1/8-inch diameter hole into the lock cylinder retaining pin followed by the 3/8-inch diameter drill into the center of the ignition lock key slot. Give away both the ignition lock cylinder and the drill shavings obtained from the steering column. Taking careful notes of how the steering column lock gear and retainer, along with the bearing position matters before you remove the bearing retainer and then the bearing and gear. All drill shavings must be removed completely from the steering column before checking for any damage that may exist in its structure. Use the reverse order to install a new ignition lock cylinder then test its functionality.
