To clean the dipstick and tube, use Metal Surface Cleaner and remove the dipstick to service the engine oil dipstick. Take away the tube by removing the bolt. Unless installed in 4 minutes, rinse again. Use the sealant, place tube, tighten the bolt and fit the dipstick back.

How to Ensure Proper Functioning of the Dipstick and Dipstick Tube on a Ford Ranger?

In order to service the engine oil dip stick and tube, place the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Take out the level of oil indicator and the two holding bolts and get rid of the O-ring cover. Tighten new bolts with 10 Nm, smear new engine oil over new O-ring and reverse the process of removal.
