Ford Ranger Engine Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the Engine Control Module on Ford Ranger?
A: The first step to serve the Engine Control Module begins with disconnecting the battery ground cable. Beginning service on the Engine Control Module requires unfastening the powertrain control module (PCM) wiring harness retainer nut while deliberately tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) torque after reinstallation. When disconnecting the PCM electrical connector you need to tighten it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) after everything is back in place. Dispose of the stud bolt and place the ground cable and PCM wiring harness aside before tightening both to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The installation should begin by removing two nuts and the PCM cover while applying 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque for both. Reposition the PCM before you substitute it with the opposite order used during removal.
