How to service the Engine Control Module on Ford Ranger?

The Engine Control Module can only be serviced by unscrewing the battery ground cable, unscrewing the PCM Wiring Harness retainer nut (tighten to 10 Nm during installation) and unplugging the PCM electrical connector (tighten to 7 Nm). Take out the PCM cover and PCM, and do the process in the opposite direction to re-install.

How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module on Ford Ranger?

In order to change the Engine Control Module, get the modules configuration, remove the connectors on PCM and take away the module. Fasten the new PCM with nuts, reconnect the connectors, tighten everything to 10 Nm. Enter PCM / instrument cluster reset parameters to avoid a no-start condition of PATS.
