How to Properly Maintain and Replace the Knock Sensor on a Ford Ranger?

In order to service the knock sensor (KS), put it on a hoist in neutral. Disassemble the KS electrical connector, and disassemble the securing bolt. Install the new KS with the tightening of the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) and repeat the steps of removal in order to complete the installation.

In order to service Knock Sensor, the battery ground cable and an electrical connector of KS should be initially disconnected. Next, unscrew the bolt that is holding the KS and extract the sensor. To install, the process is reversed of the steps used during the process of removal.
