How to service and repair the steering column cover on Ford Explorer?

Service and repair of the steering column cover starts with taking out the 2 screws from the steering column opening cover. First use a screwdriver to loosen the 2 screws from the lower cover before removing the steering column covers along with the lower and upper ones. Following the reverse removal steps will allow the installation of the covers.

How to service and repair the steering column cover on Ford F-150?

Start the car steering column cover repair process with upper steering column cover removal. The procedure requires disconnecting the bi-fuel tank selector switch from vehicles which have such equipment. Automatic transmission vehicles must position the shift lever at the number 1 position before removal. After setting aside the electrical connector secure the push clip loose from the lower instrument panel steering column cover. Removing the fuse door with the handle exposes the hood latch release handle which comes away from the steering column when its screws open and the handle detaches from the steering column cover. Next disconnect the parking brake release handle from the lower instrument panel steering column cover by taking out screws and handling its disconnect from the cover. Remove the final component by unlocking all bolts on the lower instrument panel steering column cover. Installation of the system requires following reverse steps for reinstallation.
