The presence of highly combustible mixtures in fuel-related components requires you to keep away from all smoking and open flames when servicing the fuel rail because personal injuries may result. Maintaining engine operations at high pressure becomes a safety concern because you must carefully discharge fuel system pressure before starting any fuel tube or component disconnecting process. Starting the procedure by disengaging the fuel system pressure will allow you to remove the battery ground cable. The first step includes separation of the upper intake manifold and unhinging of the fuel tube-to-fuel rail spring lock coupling and disconnection of the six
Fuel Injector electrical connectors. The procedure starts by unbolt the four fuel rail bolts to extract the fuel rail with attached injectors. Next discard twelve fuel injector O-ring seals after their removal. New O-ring seals composed of fuel-resistant material must be utilized during installation procedures where upper and lower O-ring seals need different part placement. The new O-ring seals require clean engine oil lubrication prior to securement of six fuel injectors and their accompanying clips inside the fuel rail. Replacement of the fuel rail with its fuel injectors should be an assembly along with installation using four fuel rail bolts that require a torque setting of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). After reconnecting the six fuel injector electrical connectors and fuel tube-to-fuel rail spring lock coupling it is necessary to reinstall the upper intake manifold and re-establish the battery ground cable.
