How to service the Knock Sensor (KS) on Lincoln MKZ?

Service of the Knock Sensor (KS) starts with removing the thermostat housing followed by taking off the lower intake manifold and the coolant tube. Uninstall the O-ring seal while also detaching the electrical connector of the KS. The entire process of installing or removing the KS should use hand tools to stop damage from occurring. The two bolts that anchor the KS should be removed for servicing then torque them to a tightness of 20 Nm (177 lb-in) during installation. Security of replacement requires the O-ring seal to receive engine coolant lubrication followed by its placement during installation.
