Lincoln Navigator Air Bag Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the front row side impact air bag sensor on Lincoln Navigator?
A: You should start servicing the front row side impact sensor by disabling the air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) to avoid unwanted deployment of air bags. First remove the front interior door trim panel from the affected side to reach the sensor proper access through weathershield separation. You should remove the bolt that attaches the sensor before disconnecting the electrical connector. Every new side impact sensor installation requires using the J-clip retaining nut alongside verifying that the locator tabs properly connect with the door openings. The ground wire must be installed behind the bolt head and the sensor while remaining away from the J-clip retaining nut and sensor. Fasten the sensor to its position through the bolt before readjusting the weathershield while reinstalling the front interior door trim panel. The system must be repowered and the SRS must have operational checks and no fault detections before the vehicle is released.
