Perform the next step by using a drill with 3/8-inch diameter to bore through the middle of the ignition lock key opening until the ignition lock cylinder separates from its position before discarding both the ignition lock cylinder and column drill shavings. The technician should proceed by removing the bearing retainer and subsequently remove the steering column lock housing bearing and steering column lock gear. All drill shavings from the steering column need complete cleaning before installation. Additionally you should inspect the column for any damage. Finish the process by mounting a fresh ignition lock cylinder followed by an operation check.
